Dirty Cyrus salvage station

If it has parts, Aster wants to know what they do. If it has stopped working, she probably wants it on her bench. The crew’s chief mechanic learned her trade where other people’s wrecks became tomorrow’s spare parts.

A scrapyard education

Aster grew up on Dirty Cyrus, helping her parents dismantle old machinery, repair what could be saved, and sell it to passing ships. There was no expensive engineering academy behind her talent. Taking things apart led to fixing them, then combining parts into inventions of her own.

One broken engine later

A repair brought her into contact with the crew. After fixing their engine, she took the chance to leave the station and see the galaxy herself. Engines, electronics, weapons, implants, and the Workshop now fall within her very broad idea of things she can sort out.

That is not a mess

The tools have their places—even when nobody else understands the system. Aster guards her workshop, keeps parts that might become useful, and can fall asleep halfway through living in it. Drinks, games, and machinery suit her well. The words “only a little broken” from the Captain are much less reassuring.
